Print out the study packet and use the Lifeguarding Manual and Online Red Cross Lessons to complete it.

Chapters 1-6 must be completed before Day 1 Lecture.

Chapters 7-11 must be completed before Day 2 Lecture.

The course will open in a pop-up window. Disable any pop-up blockers in your internet browser.
The CPR/AED/First Aid exam will be the last lesson of the online program.
Instructor will check your online completion email on Sunday’s pool session.
To access the online course, make sure your pop-up blocker is turned off:
- Chrome: Go to the Chrome menu > “Settings” > “Show advanced settings” at the bottom
- Firefox on PC: Go to the Firefox menu > “Content”
- Firefox on Mac: Go to the Firefox menu > “Preferences” > “Content”
- Safari on Mac: Go to the Safari menu > “Preferences” > “Security”
- Internet Explorer: Go to “Tools” > “Internet Options” > “Privacy”
If your browser prompts you with a question about secure content, answer it in a way that allows you to see all material.
Full Lifeguard Certification Prerequisites (will be performed on pool day) – Required for pools with 5 feet of water or greater.

Swim 300 yards (12 laps) continuously demonstrating breath control and rhythmic breathing. Candidates may swim using the front crawl, breaststroke or a combination of both but swimming on the back or side is not allowed. Swim goggles may be used.

Tread water for 2 minutes using only the legs. Candidates should place their hands under the armpits.

Complete a timed event within 1 minute, 40 seconds.

Starting in the water, swim 20 yards. The face may be in or out of the water. Swim goggles are not allowed.

Surface dive, feet-first or head-first, to a depth of 7 feet or greater to retrieve a 10-pound object.

Return to the surface and swim 20 yards to return to the starting point with both hands holding the object and keeping the face at or near the surface so they are able to get a breath. Candidates should not swim the distance under water.

Exit the water without using a ladder or steps.

Shallow Water Lifeguard Certification Prerequisites (will be performed on pool day) – For pools with 5 feet of water or less.

Swim 100 yards (4 laps) continuously demonstrating breath control and rhythmic breathing. Candidates may swim using the front crawl, breaststroke or a combination of both, but swimming on the back or side is not allowed. Swim goggles are allowed.

Course Refund Policy
Review the course refund policy below. By enrolling in the course, you accept the refund terms.
REFUND TERMS:

If student attends Day 1 only and does not attend Day 2 or 3: $120.00 refund will be issued.

If student attends Day 1 and Day 2 but does not attend Day 3 (pool day): $50.00 refund will be issued.

If student attends all 3 days but does not pass any part of the pool skills, online course lessons, study packet or exam: no refund will be provided.
If an absence occurs, the student must email Lifeguard Society as soon as possible to schedule a makeup course.
